Match Predictions and Betting Odds
Barbados Royals take on Trinbago Knight Riders in the fourth match of the 2021 edition of the Caribbean Premier League (CPL). The Warner Park in Basseterre, St Kitts will continue to be the venue.
Barbados Royals, formerly known as Barbados Tridents, have changed their name ahead of the start of this season as the Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Rajasthan Royals acquired the majority of the shares. Barbados Royals have won two CPL titles – in 2014 and 2019. However, apart from those two seasons, Barbados Royals have been quite inconsistent. They have a win percentage of 44.44% in this tournament. Barbados Royals seem to have most bases covered for this season. They seem to have plenty of all-round options and have a couple of hard-hitting top-order batters in the form of Johnson Charles and Glenn Phillips. Jason Holder, Mohammad Amir and Raymon Reifer will be the premier pacers while the spin attack consists of the likes of Hayden Walsh Jr and Ashley Nurse.
Trinbago Knight Riders are the best team to have ever played in the CPL. They have won the CPL title as many as four times – that is half the number of seasons (2015, 2017, 2018, 2020). In the other four years, they reached the playoffs every single time. Trinbago Knight Riders have a win-loss record of 59-30 which gets their win percentage up to 65.93% and that is the best in the history of the CPL. Trinbago Knight Riders are the defending champions and will be looking to continue their dominance. They have a power-packed squad this time around as well. They have a strong batting lineup at their disposal with the likes of Lendl Simmons, Darren Bravo, Colin Munro, Tim Seifert apart from skipper Kieron Pollard. There’s Sunil Narine leading the spin attack while Ali Khan, Jayden Seales and Ravi Rampaul round up an excellent fast bowling core.
Trinbago Knight Riders will start this game as favourites. They have been absolutely dominant and their winning odds are placed at 1.64, while Barbados Royals have their winning odds placed at 2.06.
Summary
The rivalry between the two was dominated by Trinbago Knight Riders in the early years. However, since the start of 2017, it’s been much closer. Despite that, it is Trinbago Knight Riders who are ahead even in the last four years, but just marginally, as they lead 5-4.
