Match Predictions and Team Previews
It is the final group stage encounter for both Derbyshire and Surrey in this 2021 edition of the Royal London One-Day Cup. Both these teams are currently in the bottom half of the points table in Group B.
Derbyshire are lying at the bottom of the points table and have recorded a mere one win in the entire competition which came against Nottinghamshire. They have five losses and one washout. Thus, with just three points, there is no chance that Derbyshire can make it to the knockout stages. Their batting has been decent but it is their bowling that hasn’t really come to the party. Despite the batsmen putting up big scores, especially in rain-curtailed games, the bowlers haven’t been able to defend. Unless, Leicestershire lose both their remaining games and Derbyshire record a win in this game, the Alex Hughes-led side will finish with the wooden spoon in Group B.
On the other hand, Surrey are currently third from the bottom (seventh) with six points. However, it is not as bad as it may look. Surrey have two wins, two losses and as many no-results in this tournament so far. Moreover, there are three more teams who are stuck on six points and if Surrey win their remaining two games, they will qualify for the quarter-finals. However, Surrey’s last four games have ended either in a washout or a loss and hence, they will need to pull up their socks.
This is only the second time that these two sides are squaring in the Royal London One-Day Cup history. Given Derbyshire’s poor form and Surrey’s decent start, the latter are likely to start as favourites.
Derbyshire vs Surrey Betting Odds
As far as the betting odds are concerned, Surrey will start as favourites here as well. They have the winning odds of 1.86 while Derbyshire’s odds are placed at 2.05 to win this game.
Summary
