Gloucestershire vs Glamorgan: June 10, Vitality Blast 2021 Prediction

Match Predictions and Team Previews
Gloucestershire square off against Glamorgan in one of the two South Group fixtures on the second day of this Vitality T20 Blast 2021. The Sophia Gardens in Cardiff will host this game.
Gloucestershire have been pretty consistent over the last three years in the Vitality T20 Blast. They finished at the top, second and fourth in 2020, 2019 and 2018 respectively in the group stages. However, they have constantly faltered in the knockout stages. In 2020, they reached the semifinals but fell short against Surrey and in the previous two years, they lost in the quarterfinals.
Ian Cockbain and Chris Dent will be the key players with the bat for Gloucestershire while Tom Smith will be the one to watch out for with the ball. The inclusion of New Zealand’s T20 specialist Glenn Phillips adds teeth to the side. Daniel Worrell is a good addition to the bowling attack as well.
Glamorgan have been very inconsistent and have failed to crack the T20 code in the last few years. It was back in 2017 that they last made it to the knockout stages and in that year, they lost in the semifinal. Meanwhile, in the last three years, they have failed to get past the group stages. In fact, Glamorgan finished with the wooden spoon in South Group in 2019 and second-last in the Central Group in 2020.
Glamorgan have a solid team at their disposal and have some quality names in their ranks. The Australian duo of Marnus Labuschagne and Michael Neser will be crucial alongside the South African middle-order bat of Colin Ingram. Timm van der Gugten has been in impressive form in white-ball cricket as well. Meanwhile, all-rounder David Lloyd and premier batter and skipper Chris Cooke will be the key among the local players.
Overall, both Gloucestershire and Glamorgan have middling records in the history of the Vitality T20 Blast. However, despite Glamorgan’s indifferent run in the last few years, they have constantly battled it hard against Gloucestershire and their record has been even-steven. In fact, Glamorgan have been unbeaten against Gloucestershire since the start of the 2018 season and hence, may start as slight favourites.
Summary
This rivalry has been almost neck and neck. Gloucestershire and Glamorgan have squared off 34 times in the history of T20 cricket. While Gloucestershire have ended up on the winning side 13 times, Glamorgan have won 14 games. Meanwhile, as many as six games were washed out while one game in 2019 was tied.
