Match Predictions and Team Previews
This is the first time in the history of the Royal London One-Day Cup that Durham and Hampshire will square off against each other. And it is also the final group stage fixture in Group A. Both teams will be eyeing a win.
Durham have fared really well in this 50-over tournament so far. They have recorded four wins from six games so far and have lost just one (the other game was washed out). With nine points, they are sitting pretty at the top of the points table. They are almost through to the knockouts and one more win will seal their spot in the quarter-finals. Durham have been superb with both bat and ball. They have had players stepping up in almost every game and their only loss came when they couldn’t defend 335 against Gloucestershire.
On the other hand, Hampshire have been inconsistent throughout this competition. They have lost and won every alternate game and they have not been able to build any sort of momentum. However, with seven points, they are fourth on the Group A points table. A win in this game will help Hampshire reach the quarter-finals. The bowling has been good while the batting has depended on Nick Gubbins and Tom Alsop to do the bulk of the scoring.
Both these teams have some quality players and have fared well in this tournament. Thus, it is tough to choose which team might start as favourites heading into this game. Durham will be looking to finish at the top while Hampshire eye a quarter-final berth.
Durham vs Hampshire Betting Odds
Given their current form, Durham may be slight favourites as far as the betting odds are concerned. They have the winning odds of 1.86. On the other hand, Hampshire’s winning odds stand at 1.96.
Summary
Durham and Hampshire have never faced each other in the history of the Royal London One-Day Cup. However, in their last five one-day matches (in the Pro40 Championship), Durham won two and Hampshire also returned with a couple of wins. One game was washed out in 2012.
