IPL Trophy Winners

In the 13 IPL seasons played so far, six teams have lifted the trophy.

Mumbai Indians have won it five times, followed by Chennai Super Kings who have won it three times, followed in turn by Kolkata Knight Riders who have made the trophy their own on two occasions. Rajasthan Royals who won the league’s first season, Deccan Chargers and Sunrisers Hyderabad have all won it one time each.

IPL Purple Cap Winners

• In the inaugural season, in 2008, Sohail Tanvir of Rajasthan Royals won the Purple Cap as the bowler who took the most wickets. Tanvir snared 22 victims in 11 matches with one four-wicket haul and one five-wicket haul.
• In 2009, it was the turn of RP Singh of Deccan Chargers to win the award by taking 23 wickets in 16 games, including one four-wicket haul.
• In 2010, Deccan Chargers produced yet another Purple Cap winner in Pragyan Ojha who took 21 wickets in 16 matches.
• In 2011, it was the turn of Mumbai Indians‘ Lasith Malinga to win the prize by grabbing 28 wickets in 16 matches.
• The 2012 season saw Delhi Daredevils’ Morne Morkel make the award his own by taking 25 wickets in 16 matches.
• In 2013, Dwayne Bravo of Chennai Super Kings took 32 wickets in 18 games, ensuring that the Purple Cap would go to nobody else.
• In 2014, Chennai Super Kings had one more winner in Mohit Sharma who took 23 wickets in 16 matches that season.
• In 2015, Dwayne Bravo made it three in a row for Chennai Super Kings by grabbing 26 wickets in 17 matches.
• In 2016, Sunrisers Hyderabad had their first Purple Cap winner in Bhuvaneshwar Kumar who won it with 23 wickets in 17 games.
• The next year, in 2017, Bhuvaneshwar won it yet again with 26 wickets in 14 matches.
• In 2018, Kings XI Punjab got the opportunity to feature among award-winning teams when Andrew Tye took the most wickets with 24 scalps in 14 games.
• In 2019, Chennai Super Kings featured for the 4th time on the Purple Cap awardees list when Imran Tahir took 26 wickets in 17 games.
• In the latest IPL season in 2020, Kagiso Rabada of Delhi Capitals won the award with 30 wickets in 17 games.

IPL Orange Cap Winners List

• In the inaugural season in 2008, KXIP’s Shaun Marsh was the highest scorer of the competition with 616 runs in 11 games.
• In 2009, the award went to CSK’s Matthew Hayden who made 572 runs in 12 matches.
• In 2010, Sachin Tendulkar made the Orange Cap his own by scoring 618 runs in 15 matches. 
• In 2011, Chris Gayle of RCB scored 608 runs in 12 matches to win the big prize.
• In 2012, Gayle won it two years in a row with 733 runs in 14 games.
• The 2013 Orange Cap went to CSK’s Michael Hussey who scored 733 in 17 games.
• In 2014, KKR had their first Orange Cap winner in Robin Uthappa who scored 660 runs in 16 games.
• In 2015, the award went to SRH’s David Warner who scored 562 runs in 14 matches.
• In 2016, it was the turn of RCB’s Virat Kohli who made 973 runs in 16 matches.
• In 2017, SRH’s David Warner won it for the second time with 641 runs in 14 games.
• In 2018, SRH had yet another winner in Kane Williamson who scored 735 runs in 17 matches. 
• In 2019, SRH’s David Warner won it for a record third time with 692 runs in 12 matches.
• In the last season in 2020, KXIP’s KL Rahul made 670 runs in 14 matches to take home the Orange Cap.

IPL Winners until Now

IPL 2008: Rajasthan Royals beat Chennai Super Kings

CSK batted first and scored 163/5. RR chased down the target with 3 wickets to spare on the last ball of the match.

IPL 2009: Deccan Chargers beat Royal Challengers Bangalore

DC batted first to score 143/6. In reply, RCB were restricted to 137/9, making DC the winners by 6 runs.

IPL 2010: Chennai Super Kings beat Mumbai Indians

CSK batted first and scored 168/5. In reply, MI could only manage 146/9 in their allotted overs, leaving CSK the winners by 22 runs.

IPL 2011: Chennai Super Kings beat Royal Challengers Bangalore

CSK posted a first innings score of 205/2 and won by 58 runs after restricting RCB to 147/8.

IPL 2012: Kolkata Knight Riders beat Chennai Super Kings

CSK batted first and scored 190/3. KKR chased down the target with 5 wickets and 2 balls to spare.

IPL 2013: Mumbai Indians beat Chennai Super Kings

MI batted first and scored 148/9. In reply, CSK scored only 125/9, granting MI the win by 23 runs.

IPL 2014: Kolkata Knight Riders beat Kings XI Punjab

KXIP batted first and scored 199/4 before KKR managed to chase down the target with 3 wickets and 3 balls to spare.

IPL 2015: Mumbai Indians beat Chennai Super Kings

MI batted first to score 202/5 before restricting CSK to 161/8, enabling Rohit Sharma’s side to win by 41 runs.

IPL 2016: Sunrisers Hyderabad beat Royal Challengers Bangalore

In a thrilling match, SRH batted first and scored 208/7. RCB fell short by 8 runs after scoring 200/7 in reply.

IPL 2017: Mumbai Indians beat Rising Pune Supergiant

MI won a nail-biter when they scored 129/8, batting first, and kept RPS down to 128/6, leaving MI the winners by one run.

IPL 2018: Chennai Super Kings beat Sunrisers Hyderabad

SRH batted first and posted 178/6 before CSK chased down the target with 8 wickets and 9 balls to spare.

IPL 2019: Mumbai Indians beat Chennai Super Kings

In yet another thriller, MI scored 149/8 and managed to keep CSK down to 148/7 to help themselves to a one-run win.

IPL 2020: Mumbai Indians beat Delhi Capitals

DC batted first and scored 156/7. MI chased down the score with 5 wickets and 8 balls to spare.
